Description:

This monograph will be included in a future ACGIH® Signature Publication that will be entitled: Air Sampling Technologies: Principles and Applications. Diffusion samplers are devices that separate particles or vapors by their differential diffusion mobilities. Diffusion denuders have been used in atmospheric sampling of SO2, NH3, and NOx, or as a scrubber in an acidic aerosol sampling system to remove certain types of gases to avoid absorption of these gases on particles collected in the filter. Diffusion batteries are frequently used in the laboratory to measure size distributions of nano-particles and in indoor environments to determine activity size distributions of radon progeny. This monograph describes the operating principle, theory, design, applications, and data analyses of diffusion batteries and denuders.
