John J. Bloomfield Award

2007 Awardee

The John J. Bloomfield Award is presented to a young industrial hygienist who pursues the problem of occupational health hazards primarily by doing fieldwork, and who demonstrates significant contribution to the profession. This year's Bloomfield Award recipient is Robert M. Eninger, Maj, USAF, CIH.

Major Eninger is currently an active duty U.S. Air Force Bioenvironmental Engineer assigned to the University of Cincinnati as a doctoral candidate in the Department of Environmental Health.

Prior to this, he was Chief of Industrial Hygiene and Radiation Safety Officer in the 48th Fighter Wing, RAF Lakenheath, U.K., where he led a team responsible for occupational hygiene for all USAF assets in the U.K. and served in the Middle East as a Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Medical Defense Officer. He made substantial and practical contributions to the development and testing of USAF emergency and disaster response protocols for use with field-portable chemical agent and radionuclide detection and identification technologies.

Major Eninger twice received the Air Force's Outstanding Company Grade Bioenvironmental Engineer of the Year Award (1999, 2003) and has twice been awarded a NIOSH/U.C. ERC pilot research project grant.

Major Eninger will receive the Bloomfield Award at the ACGIH® Membership Reception and Annual Meeting of the Membership on Sunday, June 3, 2007.
