ACGIH® ANNOUNCES 2016 ELECTION RESULTS

Cincinnati, Ohio — November 9, 2015 — ACGIH® is pleased to announce new members for its 2016 Board of Directors and its 2016 Nominating Committee.

In accordance with a 2013 amendment to the ACGIH® BylawsACGIH®'s membership elected three (3) members to serve as Directors on the Board of Directors. They are:

William A. Groves, PhD, MPH, CIH, CSP. Dr. Groves is an Associate Professor of Industrial Health and Safety in the Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate coursework including Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene Measurements, Ventilation for Contaminant Control, and Health and Safety Engineering. His research interests include the development and testing of field instrumentation for exposure assessment and evaluating the performance of respiratory protection equipment. Dr. Groves will serve a three year term.

Audrey Lawrence, MPH, CIH. Ms. Lawrence is the Director of Safety, Health and Wellness at the San Francisco International Airport (SFO) where she plans, manages and administers the occupational health, safety and wellness programs. Ms. Lawrence began her career with the City and County of San Francisco as an Industrial Hygienist in 1991. Since then, she has taught classes, consulted and mentored young professionals in the different disciplines of health and safety. She co-authored a chapter in Safety Health and Asset Protection, Management Essentials, 2nd Edition titled “Overview of the Key Elements of an Effective Occupational Health Management Program.” Ms. Lawrence also served as a board member and President for the School of Public Health Alumni Association at the University of California at Berkeley. Ms. Lawrence will serve a three year term.

Carolyn (Carrie) Harding, CIH. Ms. Harding has held several senior positions in Industrial Hygiene and is currently the HSE Manager at Solvay Specialty Polymers, where she directs Health, Safety & Environment operations for a 350-person R&D facility. She specializes in managing corporate and regulatory compliance and has previously overseen the design, establishment, improvement, and operation of HSE departments and programs at the regional, national, and international levels. Her work with organizations such as Solvay, Chemtrade Logistics, Cardinal Health, and General Electric, and as a Consultant, has resulted in dramatic reductions in injuries and worker compensation claims, improvements in hazardous waste and process safety management, and compliance with federal requirements. Ms. Harding will serve a three year term.

The 2016 ACGIH® Nominating Committee includes three elected members who will serve a one-year term. They are:

Karen H. Bartlett, MScOEH, PhD is a Professor in the School of Population and Public Health at the University of British Columbia, Canada (UBC). She teaches two foundation courses in OEH – Principles of Occupational and Environmental Health (SPPH 535) and Public Health Toxicology (SPPH 533) – in addition to being invited to lecture in interdisciplinary courses.     

Robert M. Eninger, PhD, CIH is an active duty officer in the United States Air Force where he has served as a Bioenvironmental Engineer since commissioning in 1995. Currently he is assigned as an assistant professor and Director of the Industrial Hygiene Graduate Program within the Department of Systems Engineering & Management at the Air Force Institute of Technology. Mr. Eninger has been a member of the ACGIH® Threshold Limit Values for Chemical Substances Committee since 2014.

Elizabeth Pullen, MSPH, CIH, FAIHA has over 30 years of experience in comprehensive industrial hygiene practice. She worked at IBM for 11 years and is currently the North American Industrial Hygiene Manager for Clariant Corporation, which is a global specialty-chemicals company based in Switzerland. Ms. Pullen is a Past President of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA).

These three elected members will be joined by the three Board Members whose terms expire in 2015 – Shannon Henshaw Gafffney, MHS, PhD, CIH; L. Faye Grimsley, PhD, CIH; and J. Torey Nalbone, PhD, CIH – to make up the six member 2016 Nominating Committee.
