Department Head Department of Environmental and Occupational Health
The Texas A&M Health Science Center, School of Rural Public Health is seeking qualified applicants for Head of the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health. The desired start date is Fall 2010. The successful candidate will have a 12-month, tenure-track faculty appointment as Associate or Full Professor in the department.
Qualified applicants must have a relevant terminal degree, e.g., MD or PhD. An MPH or equivalent public health degree from an accredited academic institution is not essential, but desirable. Candidates should provide evidence of successful academic careers that include research and scholarship, teaching, and institutional service. Those with strong interest and significant experience in toxicology, human exposure assessment and analysis, border health studies, safety, industrial hygiene, medicine or epidemiology in the context of environmental, occupational or global settings are encouraged to apply. The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health has well-established ties with both community and industry stakeholders. Thus, candidates should also have a record of working collaboratively in transdisciplinary settings, as well as with communities and industry partners at both the national and international levels.
The department currently offers MPH, MSPH, and DrPH degrees emphasizing either Environmental Health or Occupational Safety & Health. Additional initiatives include development of an undergraduate degree in Occupational Safety and a PhD in Occupational Safety & Health. Research interests of current faculty include environmental exposure and risk assessment, occupational safety and health, ergonomics, and water-related public health issues. There is also growing interest in developing a global public health research program.

Assistant/Associate Professor
The Department of Preventive Medicine and Biometrics, Division of Occupational and Environmental Health Sciences at the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine invites applications for a tenure-track appointment as an Assistant or Associate Professor. Salary for this position is not grant dependent. The Division participated in the medical, graduate medical, and graduate programs of the Department, and also provides master and doctoral level degrees in environmental health science. The various programs emphasize the fundamental concepts and principles of environmental and occupational health, including a foundation in epidemiology and biostatistics, toxicology, industrial hygiene, and a survey of occupational and environmental diseases. Research interests of the Division include real time on-site exposure assessment for the protection of the health of military forces or the general population, and traditional methods of assessing human exposures to stressors in the workplace. Eligible candidates include only US citizens or permanent residents with a Ph.D. degree, or equivalent, in an area related to occupational and environmental health science.
