Product Stewardship Specialist –Climax Technology Center – Sahuarita, Az. (1900833)

Under general supervision, provide Product Stewardship for the innovative products, technologies, and services that enhance the products and processes of our customers around the world. Responsible for managing all aspects in the lifespan of a product.

  • Review new product uses, changes in product formula, raw materials, supplier and toll manufacturers, SDS’s and labels. Recommend proposed action to the company Product Stewardship Review Team that meets regularly or as needed if an issue arises
  • Lead and participate in compliance and risk reviews of existing products to identify compositions or components, the magnitude of their use, researching for their published hazards if any, and assessing for appropriate controls to propose to potentially protect people and the environment
  • Collaborate on the preparation or revision of product related documentation to include documentation used to support internal and external customer requests
  • Lead and participate in relevant internal business meetings and external technical committees of industry associations and regulatory authorities to represent Climax Molybdenum interests
  • Identify new EHS or product safety issues and opportunities, assess product and market risks or impacts, and work within the product stewardship team to develop the means to proactively inform the business how to minimize risk and liability or maximize the opportunity
  • Work collaboratively with internal customers and regulatory agencies keeping abreast of relevant, new and emerging regulations and legislation relating to Molybdenum management in North & South America, Europe, the Far East, and elsewhere in the World
  • Generate and document the regulatory status of new products through collaboration with Operating Sites, R&D, and business teams and establish processes and procedures to maintain overall regulatory compliance
  • Provide customer support to internal and external customers regarding product uses, product approvals, safety information, and registration/certification; assist with resolution as needed
  • Support regulatory submissions to appropriate government agencies to include the EPA and others
  • Support the development, revision and implementation of stewardship tools, programs, and management systems
  • Perform other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Scientific discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Toxicology) and three (3) years of experience in Chemical, Petrochemical, Metals Conversion, Manufacturing, Mining, or equivalent industry
  • Practical experience with chemical management regulations in the US & Canada and some knowledge of global chemical regulations and/or five-plus (5+) years of experience in compliance or chemical control regulation (e.g., DOT,TSCA, DSL & REACH)
  • Working knowledge of GHS (e.g., OSHA HAZCOM 2012)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong skills related to leadership, teamwork, interpersonal relations, customer focus, work management and results orientation
  • Proficiency in MS Office especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to prioritize workload, independently handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously completing tasks efficiently, accurately, and on time
  • Strong data-mining, research, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Has traveled domestically and internationally for a work role

  • Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant setting

  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to ten (10) pounds
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
