ACGIH® ANNOUNCES 2006 ELECTION RESULTS
Cincinnati, Ohio September 26, 2005 ACGIH® Worldwide is pleased to announce the results of its 2006 election for the Board of Directors, and its 2006 Nominating Committee.
ACGIH® members elected Lawrence M. Gibbs, MEd, MPH, CIH to the position of Vice Chair-Elect. Mr. Gibbs, Associate Vice-Provost for Environmental Health and Safety at Stanford University in Stanford, California, will assume the position of Vice Chair-Elect beginning January 1, 2006. He has been a member of ACGIH® since 1981.
Mary O'Reilly Brophy, PhD, CIH, CPE has been elected to serve as Director-At-Large on the ACGIH® Board of Directors. She will begin her three-year term on January 1, 2006. Dr. Brophy has been on the faculty of the SUNY School of Public Health (Albany) since 1991 where she teaches Environmental Physiology, Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Ergonomics. She has been an ACGIH® member since 1990.
Four members have been elected to the 2006 ACGIH® Nominating Committee. They are:
Heather D. Borman, MS, CIH, CSP. Ms. Borman is currently an industrial hygienist for the State Compensation Insurance Fund (SCIF) in San Francisco, assisting small and medium size employers in Northern California. Ms. Borman became an ACGIH® member in 1990.
Lora E. Fleming, MD, PhD, MPH, MSc. Dr. Fleming is an environmental and occupational health physician and epidemiologist. She is also a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Miami School of Medicine and in the Division of Marine Biology and Fisheries of the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Miami. Dr. Fleming joined ACGIH® in 1989.
Patricia J. Quinlan, MPH, CIH. Ms. Quinlan is an industrial hygienist and associate clinical professor in the Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Ms. Quinlan has been an ACGIH® member since 1984.
Lawrence W. Whitehead, MPH, PhD, CIH. Dr. Whitehead is an Associate Professor at the School of Public Health at the University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHSC) in Houston. He also directs the ABET-accredited industrial hygiene curriculum, and is Interim Director of the Division of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences at UTHSC. Dr. Whitehead joined ACGIH® in 1983.
