ACGIH® Co-Organizes Health Effects of Occupational Exposure to Emissions from Asphalt/Bitumen Symposium



Cincinnati, Ohio — September 26, 2005 — ACGIH® Worldwide is pleased to announce its co-organization of the Health Effects of Occupational Exposure to Emissions from Asphalt/Bitumen Symposium. ACGIH® is co-organizing this symposium with the Commission for the Investigation of Health Hazards of Chemical Compounds in the Work Area of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). This two-day event, focusing on emissions from asphalt/bitumen aerosols, fumes, and vapors with an emphasis on studies to help evaluate exposure and carcinogenic hazard and risk, will be held at the BG Academy for Occupational Health and Safety in Dresden, Germany on June 7-8, 2006.

The Symposium Technical Program Development (STPD) Task Force seeks to provide researchers, policymakers/government officials, practitioners, academics, employers, and labor leaders with an opportunity to share and discuss key research in this field, which will further aid the scientific process. Abstracts covering exposure (inhalation, dermal, and biomarkers); experimental studies in animals and humans; epidemiological studies and mechanistic studies (in vivo, in vitro, and biomarkers) will be accepted through October 31, 2005.
