Strano Resigns; Rizzuto Appointed Executive Director

Cincinnati, Ohio - August 1, 2001 - ACGIH® Worldwide has announced the resignation of Richard A. Strano, and the appointment of A. Anthony Rizzuto as Executive Director of the Association. Mr. Strano, who has been Executive Director since 1992, has accepted the position of Executive Director of the American Industrial Hygiene Association. Strano will join AIHA in October.

Mr. Rizzuto has been the Association's Associate Executive Director since 1999, after serving as its Director of Administration and Finance for six years. He has also served in the capacity as Executive Director of the American Association for Aerosol Research (AAAR) over the past two years.

"We believe that we have selected the very best individual to serve as Executive Director. Tony Rizzuto has done, and continues to do, a great job for ACGIH®" said Scott Merkle, ACGIH® Board Chair. "He has been an integral part of the lawsuit negotiations, and we expect that his tireless commitment to the TLVs® and the occupational health and safety community will continue in his new position."

Mr. Rizzuto stated that the transition will be seamless, and that he believes it is due in large part to the exemplary leadership shown during Strano's tenure. "Working with Dick has been both educational and personally rewarding," stated Rizzuto. "I am looking forward to working even more closely with our Board and Staff toward the future of our organization, and the impending opportunities and challenges." Strano expressed "every confidence" in Rizzuto's abilities and work ethic.

Strano, who has been in association management for over 30 years, said "for me, this was an arduous and painstaking decision, and one that I am convinced is right." Regarding the challenges facing ACGIH®, he commented, "While I relish working on the challenges facing AIHA, I also relish working on the ones facing ACGIH®, and will miss participating in overcoming them." Strano plans to share his thoughts further in the fall issue of ACGIH®'s Today! newsletter.

Before joining ACGIH®, Rizzuto served as a Staff Accountant in the accounting firm of Kist, Bernhardt & Co. A Cincinnati native, he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Cincinnati. Rizzuto is active in many organizations, including the American Society of Association Executives, and the Cincinnati Society of Association Executives.

Rizzuto lives in Loveland, Ohio with his wife Rejena and daughter Rachel.
