ACGIH advances the careers of professionals working in the occupational and environmental health, industrial hygiene, and safety communities interested in defining their science.
This section has been established to help educate industry, government, and the public on what TLVs and BEIs are, and how TLVs and BEIs may best be used.
ACGIH is committed to providing its members and other occupational and environmental health professionals with the training and education they need to excel in their profession.
The Foundation for Occupational Health & Safety (FOHS) is a 501(c)(3) corporation fostering the expanded establishment of occupational exposure values throughout the world.

The information in this user-friendly, pocket-sized publication is used worldwide as a guide for evaluation and control of workplace exposures to chemical substances and physical agents. Threshold Limit Value (TLV) occupational exposure guidelines are recommended for more than 700 chemical substances and physical agents. There are more than 50 Biological Exposure Indices (BEIs) that cover more than 80 chemical substances. Chemical Abstract Service (CAS) registry numbers are listed for each chemical. Introductions to each section and appendices provide philosophical bases and practical recommendations for using TLVs and BEIs).

Air Sampling Technologies: Principles and Applications – DIGITAL (Now Available!)
ACGIH’s Air Sampling Technologies (AST) book is a comprehensive text covering the practical application of modern sampling devices. Information on the utilization of sampling results is found within this up-to-date resource containing industry expert methodologies. This versatile compilation of worldwide expertise ranges from baseline necessities for compliance to the practical application of Bayesian statistics for anticipating problems not traditionally found in active or passive air sampling.
AST chapters cover in-depth air sampling instruments applicable to any industrial hygiene program – including pumps used to move air into sampling media and size selective techniques which ensure field practitioners can most accurately describe exposures. Additionally, new advances in a variety of air sampling equipment are covered in great detail along with direct reading instruments focused on spectrometry and ionization technologies.
